"For in Him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28) Women
Finding Worth in Messiah...continued
When her first time came to speak in front of a group of women, Lisa wanted to be honest and transparent, so she shared the good, the bad, and the ugly things about herself. "I had learned that when an audience can identify with the messenger, they will more readily identify with the message," she says. With boldness and courage Lisa stepped out from behind the facade and discovered that she did not have to have it all together because she was fully accepted by Messiah Jesus.
Lisa challenges women to replace a judgmental, gossipy, fearful, and competitive attitude with the truth of God's Word. "For too long we have not had accurate information by which to measure ourselves. We have assessed ourselves by those around us and by our own past failures and successes," says Bevere. Neither should a woman's worth be measured by what she possesses. Rather, "God weighs our hearts by what He places in our hands. We are not measured by our limitations but by what we have the potential to do. The true measure of a woman does not lie in the number of her God-given talents and abilities, but in her faithfulness to use them to honor her Master." Women need faith not only in God, but also a faith in God's goodness.
Many women believe they are bound by past experiences. But the past is often an excuse for current behaviors. Bevere believes women need to let go of their past, forgive, and move in the freedom and love they have in Messiah.
"You are not what you have done. You are not what has been done to you. You have been translated from that dark domain onto God's path of light. Your worth is not found in what you have done. It is represented by what Jesus did for you."
