"For in Him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28) Sing Servant
Jonathan and Ahimaz were staying at En Rogel. A servant girl was to go and inform them, and they were to go and tell King David. 2 Samuel 17:17
A spy network in Jerusalem. Tension, adrenaline, action. They trust her. She will not raise suspicion. Just another servant.
Contact is made, but an informant sees them. Their cover is blown. Now things happen fast. The young men go underground, hide in a well. They manage to escape, flee to the Jordan. Her message reaches the king just in time. He escapes. Mission completed. The Messianic line is not broken.
What was her name? No one knows. She doesn't get a medal, only a crown, one day.
Jonathan son of Saul had a son who was lame in both feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but as she hurried to leave, he fell and became crippled. His name was Mephibosheth.
Post-war chaos. "Flee before the new king! Flee!" His nurse runs with him. In her hurry he slips out of her hands, break a few vertebrae. Paralysed for good. He, whose father was quicker than an eagle. Not that! She just tried to help, from the goodness of her heart. And now, a court-case?
The covenant between David and Jonathan is like a cord of three strands - not easily broken. David searches for Mephibosheth. He may come and push his lame feet in under the king's table.
It is the end of the darkest chapter in her life. Mephibosheth even has a little son, Micah, who needs a nanny
