"For in Him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28) Sing Servant
One of the servants told Nabal's wife Abigail, "David sent messengers to give our master his greetings, but he hurled insults at them. Now think it over and see what you can do, because disaster is hanging over our master and his whole household. He is such a wicked man that no one can talk with him."
Sent by his fellow servants he goes to Abigail. Everyone knows her worth is far more than rubies. His report is factual, to the point and calling for action. If she doesn't do something, every man on Mount Carmel is going to die.
Not nice that he calls his employer names, unnecessary also. Nabal means wicked fool.
He is one of the servants who go ahead of Abigail to meet David. The donkeys carry delicacies, both new and old, stored up for the lovers. "Eat, O friends, and drink; drink your fill, O lovers." There is peace again on the Carmel.
David asked him, "To whom do you belong, and where do you come from?" He said, " I am an Egyptian, the slave of an Amalekite. My master abandoned me when I became ill three days ago. We raided the Negev."
1 Samuel 30:13,14
Emergency! Dehydrated in the desert. They found him just in time. Nobody can live for longer than three days without water. Water! Figs! Raisins!
"Quick! Lead David to the raiding party. His men want to stone him because of their great loss. No, he will not hand you over to your cruel master." Weak but willing he goes. Everyone is found back. No one is missing. Only a few of the enemy escape. The plunder is great.
He is well now, alive and well and free.
