"For in Him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28)

Sing Servant

HoneyLionheart
by Eleanor van der Merwe

"Do all you have in mind," his armour-bearer said. "Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul".    1 Samuel 14:7

He carries a heavy load: two swords, a staff. His hands become dirty, climbing up behind Jonathan. They are one of heart. God is going to save by few.

Two is better than one. Twenty men fall before them. The battle is heavy, consuming energy. Jonathan becomes hypoglycaemic. He needs honey. He dips the end of his staff into the honeycomb. This nearly costs him his life, but his men rescue him from his father's curse.

Who is it that smiles so sweetly there?

David Young Psalm
by Eleanor van der Merwe

So Saul said to his attendants, "Find someone who plays well and bring him to me". One of the servants answered, "I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the harp. He is a brave man and a warrior. He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the LORD is with him".   1 Samuel 16:17,18

How does God get David from Bethlehem to the king's palace? Easy. A servant of Saul's visits Ephrath. There a boy with red hair captivates his attention. He sits on a stone under an olive tree and plays for his sheep. Who is he? The LORD is with him. That is his qualification. But the time is not yet ripe.

One day the king becomes mad and needs music therapy. Suddenly one of his servants remembers a tune, a tune that later becomes a Psalm: "He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed, to David and his descendants forever."
