"For in Him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28)

Sing Servant

CloudsJoshua
by Eleanor van der Merwe

The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.    Exodus 33:11

That mountain covered in cloud, with the glory of God like a consuming fire on top of it. Nobody can ascend, except the high-priestly family and seventy elders. And Joshua, the young aid. They see the living God, and live! Then Moses and Joshua climb higher, until Moses enters the cloud. There Joshua waits, close to the top, close to the heart of God.

"Joshua! Joshua! Why don't you leave the tent?" "Better is one day in his courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. How lovely is his dwelling place." "Joshua, God will never leave you. You will be able to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land."

Paul A Few Grams of Silver
by Eleanor van der Merwe

Saul said to the servant, who was with him, "Come let's go back, or my father will stop thinking about the donkeys and start worrying about us". But the servant replied," Look in this town there is a man of God. Let's go there now. Perhaps he will tell us what way to take".
1 Samuel 9:5,6

Saul doesn't even think to pray about the donkeys, but his servant wants to ask God's help. He even pays out of his own pocket for his employer to see the prophet.

Honour comes his way. Not only is he allowed into the banquet hall, he even sits next to Saul at the head of the table. Of course the leg of meat is not put in front of him, but he also eats of it.

The next morning Saul has to remain to hear the word of God, but he has to go ahead. Rejection? No. Later he will also hear and rejoice.
