"For in Him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28)

Sing Servant

PeterRhoda
by Eleanor van der Merwe

Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer the door. When she recognised Peter's voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, "Peter is at the door!"    Acts 12:13,14

"Girls…!" the boys would have said. "Cuckoo" say the believing intercessors. Rhoda guards the door. One night of prayer is better than a thousand at the disco. She really believes. "Peter knocks! Just like we have prayed."

"What does she know? Servant….Back to business, guys." But finally Peter gets their attention. "Knock and the door will be opened to you."

Peter winks at her, there where she stands at the back, behind everybody.

Girl Fortune
by Eleanor van der Merwe

We were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved."   Acts 16:16,17

The right message, the wrong spirit. She follows the Christians, even proclaims salvation. Poor prisoner. Who will free her? "It is finished." Also for her. The fortune-teller receives an incredible treasure, the pearl of great value. But her owners lose everything.

The apostles are punished for their good deed, thrown into jail. But using an earthquake, God breaks open the prison and frees them. Through this the jailer and his whole family also get saved.

There is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. HalleluYah!
