Edibles for the Soul
Mirror, Mirror: I Wish ...
"I Wish" ..., "If Only" ..., "I wonder what would have happened if..."
If we choose to follow our way, instead of God's way, we usually find ourselves with a mile-long list of regrets. We may have started off on the right path, but some where along the journey we veered off on another path. Certain situations subtly discouraged us from our purpose and the plans that God has intended for us. Usually those paths have the sign "FEAR" and "DOUBT" posted on them.
For example, last week I spoke a little about the direction my life has taken since I decided my plans were not working out. I'm only 28, but I have a pretty good list of regrets. No doubt the biggest regret, was my lack of direction about choosing a career.
Some kids today are constantly entertained by television. Growing up as a child, my mom encouraged my creativity. Cardboard, paper, crayons, markers, glue, scissors are tools that I grew to appreciate as I constructed my creations. You might be wonder where am I going with this. Just keep following me. I'm hoping this will lead those of you who may be struggling, to go back and see something in your past that points to a greater purpose.
Have you ever sat down to list some of the professions that you wanted to pursue. Here are mine:
I never pursued none of the professions above.
I literally looked through the college handbook and said that sounds good. What I chose, I hated and for the next four years I never figured out what I could do instead.
It was not until a couple of months ago, when I looked back I thought about the one major factor that has always stayed with me. My outrageous need to be creative. Every project, paper, or presentation I did in school ... the best part to me was putting it together!
Two years ago I was in a job I did not care about and I was ready for a change. I went by the bookstore picked up a HTML book and the rest is history. Surprisingly the profession I am pursuing, web development, reminds me of the passion I had when I was four years old.
I'm no expert, but I believe God gives us passions early in life. After reading this, you may remember your passion or dream. What happened to it? Did you doubt your ability to be able to pursue it? What were you afraid of? Take a journey back through life and ask God to reveal the desires of your heart. Not only will he reveal it to you, but he will show you how to use it for Him. Faithwebbin is the product of my very first web page effort.
